The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately following hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. Schedule: 10 hr shifts. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (4-10s)

Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.

Draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipuncture and collect other specimens as required.

Label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.

Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.

Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required.

If phlebotomy program has not been completed, to be considered, one-year of experience in a medical laboratory is required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences.

Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.
