Organ Procurement Coordinator - Westwood
Position Type Full Time
There are two schedule options available for the Organ Procurement Coordinator (OPC) role:
On-Call Organ Procurement Coordinator (OPC)
Maintains an on-call schedule of approximately 1215 24-hour call shifts per month (approximately 50% on-call coverage).
In addition to on-call responsibilities, must be able to work an average of 16 hours per week in the MTN office completing follow-up, administrative, and coordination activities.
Shifted Organ Procurement Coordinator (OPC)
Must be able to work three (3) scheduled 12-hour shifts per week.

Evaluates medical suitability of potential organ donors, utilizing information from medical records, history and physical examination, and current health status.
Professionally collaborates with hospital's medical staff to assess the clinical status of the potential organ and/or tissue donor and direct the clinical management of the authorized organ and/or tissue donor.
Competently manages clinical hemodynamic stability of the donor patient and appropriately seeks consultation with AOC/Intensivist on call/Medical Director.
Ability to utilize Point of Care testing for performing laboratory testing on donor patients.
Independently operates and trouble shoots all clinical equipment in MTN's Donor Care Unit (DCU), including ventilators, monitors, IV pumps, X-ray, CT machine including IV contrast, etc.
Timely and accurately documents all donor management and procedures in True North and Donor Net
Provides informed authorization in accordance with state law and established MTN policies and procedures.
Conducts all aspects of the donation process in compliance with established federal and state laws, AOPO and AATB standards, UNOS and FDA guidelines, CDC and MTN policies.
Leads coordination of transportation and other logistics for local and outside recovery programs, in preparation for operative phase of recovery.
Maintains donor stability in the OR while serving as the Head of Bed (HOB) specialist.
Administrative
Completes donor case follow-up and required quality assurance responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintains compliance with documentation practices and MTN Policies and Procedures.
Serves as a back-up resource to screen organ referral calls from referring hospitals to evaluate potential donors, answer questions, and develop a plan for action with the Administrator on Call (AOC).
Ability to access the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and obtain additional information to determine donor suitability.
Serves as a back-up resource by collaborating with the AOC to determine a plan of action for following potential donor cases, deferral of non-eligible donor referrals or activation of the Family Services Coordinator for offering potential donor families the option of donation in an appropriate and sensitive manner.
Undergraduate degree in health sciences or equivalent field of study and professional clinical work experience required. shift schedule. Must maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Requires the ability to travel within the service area by ground or air and be physically present onsite at all hospitals within MTN's Donation Service Area (DSA).
