The 40-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) provides comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation, management and recovery of post-surgical patients with critical illness. The patients typically have undergone a variety of general and specialty surgical procedures. The interprofessional team consists of board-certified critical care specialty providers from surgery and anesthesiology, SICU fellows, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, NAs and clinical pharmacists. As one of the largest ICUs in the region, the unit has a very diverse patient population covering many surgical disciplines providing limitless professional opportunities for staff to grow into a well-rounded caregiver.

Deliver Compassionate Patient Care: Provide direct, hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, and comfort measures that enhance patient dignity and recovery
Support Critical Care Excellence: Assist RNs with vital sign monitoring, patient positioning, and equipment management while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
Respond with Confidence: Stay alert and ready to respond decisively to patient needs and emergent situations, working seamlessly with the care team
Actively participate in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized patient environment while adhering to infection control and safety protocols
Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, pharmacists, and fellow team members to ensure coordinated, exceptional patient care

Report patient observations and concerns promptly to the RN, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks in patient care

High school diploma or G.Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
