Description:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a MedSurg/Telemetry unit.
This facility has 637 licensed beds and is designated as a Level 1 Trauma center.
It is also a teaching hospital and recognized as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center.
The unit consists of 20 beds with an average patient census of 20.
Common patient diagnoses include acute or chronic kidney disease, including end-stage renal disease, and post-operative urology or renal-related surgeries.
You will care for patients presenting co-morbidities typical in a med-surg population, such as diabetes, hypertension, and congestive heart failure.
Patient ratios are 1 RN to 4-6 patients and LPNs will have similar ratios.
CNA assistance will be available with a ratio of 1-2 per shift.
You will be responsible for managing peritoneal dialysis with training provided if needed.
The role requires proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucomander, insulin drips, and heparin drips.
You will work with a strong interdisciplinary team for patient care and education focused on renal and fluid management.
This position involves the use of various medical equipment including EMR, IV pumps, and cardiac telemetry monitors.
Successful candidates will work collaboratively in a busy unit and maintain high standards of patient care.
