Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position requiring vent, trach, and G-tube experience along with an active IL RN license in hand.
Details
Pediatric acute care unit in a children's hospital with 39 beds serving all specialties
Patients range from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% having some form of technology dependence
Unit cares for chronically ill children with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator needs; no drips, surgical, or transitional patients
Patient ratios of 1:3-4
Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
Every other weekend required
No on-call responsibilities
Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
Open to block scheduling
Uses Meditech charting system
Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Experience with ventilator, tracheostomy, and G-tube care required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Flu vaccine required, medical and religious exemptions accepted

Additional Information
Provide direct care to pediatric patients with chronic illness, including ventilator, tracheostomy, and gastric tube management
Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
Previous perm staff members at this facility or its affiliated clinics will not be considered
All requested time off must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date, with no additions once the contract has started
