Apply here to be considered for future roles within our Automation Practice. We regularly hire Automation and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) specialists to support SCADA and automation projects for public, private, and federal clients.

This is a general application posting for ongoing and upcoming opportunities. An Automation Specialist at CDM Smith:

• Creates basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D design practices. Creates basic to moderately complex human-machine interface (HMI) graphics, programmable logic controller programming (PLC), report development, etc. Assists with testing and startup of control systems.
• Reviews basic to highly complex component level shop drawings, contractor clarifications. Assist with testing oversight.
• Creating basic to moderately complex instrumentation and control system designs by developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system architectures, specifications, and control descriptions (for use in control system programming).
• Under general supervision, assists in the preparation proposal sections and presentations, as directed. Supports marketing and new business activities as requested in support the Automation strategy. Automation and Controls Specialist

Bachelor's Degree.

• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Experience with Water/Wastewater highly preferred.

• Experience within an Engineering and/or an integration firm highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft office suite of programs.
• Expert knowledge of 3D and 4D design practices.

The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview.
