POSITION SUMMARY

The qualified candidate will be responsible for the weighing of material in large commercial vehicles and determining the proper disposal method of the material brought in by customers on a large truck scale. They are responsible for all paperwork and recording of all regulatory and accounting documentation. The scale house/weighmaster works in a fast-paced environment in cohesion with the customer service department and other weighmasters.

New Hire Orientation & Safety Training Requirement

All newly hired employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation and Safety Training in person at our Corporate Office located in Dallas, Texas. Attendance is mandatory and is a condition of employment.

To support employees traveling to attend training, mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed for individuals whose commute to the Dallas Corporate Office exceeds 50 miles, in accordance with company travel and reimbursement policies. Additional details regarding travel arrangements and reimbursement procedures will be provided prior to the training date.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate a positive, professional, upbeat attitude and energy toward teammates, peers, and, customers

Operate scale house

Schedule and direct trucks

Work cooperatively with sales department and dispatch team

Understand customers’ needs and requirements

Answer incoming telephone calls

Cash sales – document, verify and accurately fill out checks for customers

Research problem tickets and properly document findings

Convey any known customer needs and/or complaints with the appropriate personnel

Maintain files for trucker’s insurance, tax exempt certificates, and overload permits

Assist administrator and manager as required

Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility

Ensure that yard functions are being performed such as stockpile labeling and identifying location of material

Participate in audits and reconciliation of inventory

Follow federal, state, local, and safety rules, regulations, policies procedures

Other duties as requested

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Highschool diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred

Experience in the building materials industry preferred

1 year of scale operations, dispatching and trucking operations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong organizational and customer service skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to workandnbsp;12-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed

Must possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports

Must be computer literate and have ability to learn new software

Competent operating normal office equipment - copiers, fax machines, adding machines, computers, printers, etc.

Ability to type at least 25 wpm

Must be able to effectively read, write and verbally communicate with internal and external customers

Excellent interpersonal skills with Ability to meet customers and project friendly, cooperative, and positive attitude

Some knowledge of legal weights measures helpful

High ethical standards

Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner

Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced TEAM environment

Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit at a computer approximately 10 hours a day

This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection

Must be able to bend, stand, and crouch in order to handle files and related paperwork

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Ability to climb stairs

Must be able to walk across steep/rough terrain
