Join us where you will be part of a dedicated team to manufacture high tech products, safely, accurately and efficiently, you will perform a variety of hands-on operations in accordance with standardized processes within customer specifications.
Howmet is currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group in Hampton, Virginia. Training is 1st shift, M-F 7am-3pm . The shift hours are to be determined upon training completion .
This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" of $1.00 p/hr. while assigned to an off shift.
Job Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic will install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and piping systems of industrial equipment and facilities.

Record data either manually or by computer as required.
Assist with testing and repair of equipment.
Test malfunctioning equipment and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem and assist with repairs, as directed.
Assist with the dismantling of machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, as directed.
Assist with the facility preventive machine procedures.
Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment, as directed.
Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
Rigs equipment for installation or relation, as directed.
Must be able to read basic blueprints to install equipment and components.
Ability to operate an industrial forklift.
Forklift License required with renewal every two years. Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate.
Applicants must have at least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience and/or training.
Availability for all shifts (including 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekend shift) is necessary. The ability to work overtime and weekends is required as schedules may vary based on operational needs; This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
