Patients in this setting may require frequent neurological assessments and collaborative evaluations to manage intermediate care status. Continuity of care is facilitated in this unit through ICU transition for optimization of clinical outcomes.
Registered nurses provide care in conjunction with the nursing assistant and medical team. The charge nurse does not have a patient assignment. PCU provides short-term care for acute care needs. The team strives to provide a quiet, peaceful environment where the patient and the family can focus on quality of life.
