Buyer/Purchasing Planner (Temp to Perm)

Responsibilities

Generates purchase orders based on MRP/MRP1 demand, Kanban and purchase requisitions for assigned BU(s) daily and stores documentation centrally.

Ensures on time delivery of suppliers to meet requirements. This includes expedite requests and delivery status updates from suppliers, to communicate to internal customers

Monitors and maintains the out-going subcontracting list to generate POs in support of assigned BU(s).

Assists in evaluating supplier performance and Quality Performance resolution.

Assists in developing and updating purchasing procedures and work instructions as needed

Performs other duties as assigned

The primary task of the Buyer/Planner is to schedule and procure material to ensure the on-time operation of the assigned business unit. The work is done within established procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications

General knowledge of Foreign Trade Law, International Traffics in Arms Regulations, Tariff Codes, etc…(19 CFR, 15 CFR)

Effectively utilizes Microsoft products like Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Reads and understands blueprints

Understands production and scheduling needs to better set re-order point, safety stock or just-in-time criteria

US Citizen or Permanent Resident required

Associates degree in International Trade, Supply Chain or a related field; or equivalent working experience is required

Experience with an ERP system (BaaN, SAP) is required

2-5 years of experience working with a global manufacturing company as a buyer or planner

Develop effective work relationships

Effectively communicates with others

Interpersonal Relationships: Works closely with Logistics, Manufacturing, WA&S and Customer Service. Role has direct contact with suppliers.

Team Work: Operates as part of team contributing knowledge to the group.
