Our Maple Grove Hospital was established in 2009, is a 134-bed facility recognized as a top hospital in the state for Women and Children Care, with a Level III NICU, and is the largest Family Birth Center in the state (:5,000 deliveries per year and over 60,000 babies delivered). The Financial Advocate's primary function is to perform a thorough financial screening of patients. The Financial Advocate is also North Memorial's primary contact for patient education in areas of insurance benefits, levels of coverage, and billing and collection processes. Responsibilities include ensuring that all accounts have been cleared for billing, obtaining insurance authorization for services, securing payment arrangements (including collection of co-payment/coinsurance) prior to patient discharge and for major outpatient services, identification of other potential payment sources (including Financial Assistance program, initiating/completing the Medical Assistance application process), and providing costs estimates.

High school graduate or equivalent required

Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.

One to two years of work experience as Patient Financial Advocate, Patient Registration, Patient Accounting, or a related health care field.

Prior experience in customer service, especially in front end patient interactions regarding financial processes.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Advanced knowledge of insurance, including government assistance programs.

Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.

Strong computer skills.

Efficient typing skills of at least 40wpm.

Work Group: Non Contract

Shift: Days 8 hours

Weekend Requirement: Remote or On-site: On-site

Shift Differential: Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
