In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations of patients innumerousunits, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers.As a Patient Companion, you will helpfacilitateCleveland Clinic's mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. A caregiver in this position worksnights from 6:45AM – 7:15PM, including every other weekendand 2 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Assistwith direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs,weightand pulse oximetry.If assigned to a closed unit, provide constant observation only for safety for three to four patients.

Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters,tubesor other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.

Collect patient specimens for laboratory testing.

Follow protocols andinitiateCPR and other emergency measures asrequired.

Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.

.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Completion of a hospital-based patient companion training program OR equivalent experience OR enrollment at an accredited school of nursing and completion of a nursing fundamentals course or completion of a hospital-based NA/PC orientation

Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skincareand vital signs

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
