The University of Virginia (UVA) Children's Hospital and the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery are seeking applications to join the faculty in the Section of Congenital Heart Surgery. Opportunities exist for basic science and translational research as well as support for clinical research interests.

It continues to grow throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia with formal collaborations with children's hospitals in Norfolk and Richmond Virginia. We have a busy neonatal heart surgery program with a continually growing fetal cardiology program. We also have a busy and growing pediatric heart transplant and pediatric mechanical circulatory support program. The dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit boasts 5 dually trained pediatric intensivists.

UVA Children's was recently ranked number 1 children's hospital in Virginia by US News and World Report for the fourth consecutive year and is nationally ranked in nine pediatric subspecialty areas. The University of Virginia Medical Center and Children's Hospital are located adjacent to the main university grounds of the University of Virginia. Interested individuals must be an MD, certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS), with additional ABTS Certification in Congenital Cardiac Surgery. The ideal applicant will have a strong clinical background and interest in complex neonatal heart surgery, pediatric heart transplantation and pediatric mechanical circulatory support.
