Cook - Temporary Position

Adecco is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef / Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality meals. This role is responsible for meal planning, food preparation, kitchen administration, inventory management, vendor relations, staff scheduling, and maintaining compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards.
The ideal candidate is a skilled culinary professional with strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding service in a compassionate and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations & Food Service

Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of nutritious, well-balanced, and appetizing meals.
Maintain meal schedules and ensure meals are served on time.
Plan menus and accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions as required.
Ensure food is handled, prepared, stored, and disposed of in accordance with sanitary regulations and food safety standards.
Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control.
Kitchen Management & Administration

Oversee all kitchen administrative functions.
Manage food inventory and place orders efficiently to maintain appropriate stock levels.
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Schedule kitchen staff and ensure adequate coverage.
Assist with menu planning and budgeting activities.
Sanitation & Compliance

Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, pantry, and dining room.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Inspect kitchen facilities and equipment regularly to ensure regulatory compliance.
Coordinate maintenance and repairs of kitchen equipment to maximize performance and longevity.
Client Service

Provide high-quality meal service in a caring and respectful environment.
Support a welcoming atmosphere through professionalism, compassion, and excellent customer service.
Additional Duties

Set up serving areas for meals as needed.
Implement measures to minimize food waste.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required

High school diploma and culinary training, cooking diploma, apprenticeship, vocational training, technical school education, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in food service or culinary operations.
Previous kitchen management or supervisory experience.
DC Food Protection Certificate required.
Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation regulations, and food handling procedures.
Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Dependable, punctual, and professional.
Preferred

Experience in institutional food preparation and food service environments.
Knowledge of special and modified diets, including:
High protein
Low cholesterol
Low fat
Calorie-restricted
Sodium-restricted diets

~ Experience operating and maintaining commercial food service equipment.

Pay Details: $20.00 per week
