Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., will support plasma center operations. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and work under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. This role requires participation in a rotating weekend schedule and availability to work assigned weekends.

Responsibilities

Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).

Manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.

Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care facilities.

Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues and guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.

Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.

Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance for employee incidents.

Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.

Licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.

Current CPR and AED certification.

Fulfills state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Completes FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
