In this position, the Registered Nurse has primary responsibility and accountability for the nursing care and safety of patients who are undergoing an endoscopic and/or invasive procedure with or without sedation. This nurse demonstrates skills in interpersonal relationships, critical thinking, and efficiency. The Registered Nurse serves as a resource to students and new caregivers and is involved in the quality improvement process. The nurse collaborates with the Pre-operative care RN to assess the holistic patient needs and procedure requirements. The nurse performs ongoing assessments and documents changes from baseline status. The Registered Nurse develops, implements, and communicates a plan of care that prescribes the nursing actions and priorities to achieve the patient plan of care goals. The nurse responds to comfort needs of the patient and patient/family requests for health information as appropriate. The Registered Nurse uses principles of aseptic practice in varying situations and monitors compliance within the surgical team. The nurse initiates corrective action when breaks in techniques occur. The nurse supports, educates, and reassures the patient and their families. The Registered Nurse integrates and internalizes theoretical knowledge into clinical expertise. The nurse develops focused assessment and critical thinking skills and utilizes evidence-based research to guide practice and enhance positive patient outcomes. The nurse develops and modifies individualized plans of care and communicates changes in the plan of care to the patient and healthcare team. The Registered Nurse systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing care and participates in activities to improve patient care and the healthcare environment. The nurse participates in the advancement of the nursing profession through contributions to practice, education, administration, and research. The Registered Nurse documents the use of equipment and supply consumption for accurate charging and inventory management. The nurse assists with inventory management to control inventory volume and availability. The nurse promotes the organization's mission, vision, and values, and abides by service behavior standards. The Registered Nurse performs other duties as assigned. The nurse may be required to float to other departments and occasionally float to other nursing units based on business needs. The nurse may be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
