Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University's operations.

Applications will be reviewed online by the hiring department. This is a swing shift position, 40 hour work week schedule; shift could be between 3:00pm and 1:30am Monday-Friday, hours to be discussed with supervisor. Additionally, this position is entitled to shift differential in the amount of $4,639 per year.
Performs journey level work in the installation, maintenance, repair and service of electrical systems.
Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, installs and replaces building and equipment electrical and electronic systems and components rated up to 600 volts.
Performs preventive maintenance utilizing multimeters and other specialty equipment to safely test, measure and then correct any observed deficiencies.
Generates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work. Keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed. Performs electrical maintenance work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspects the work of others for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations.
Assists other team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators.
Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.
High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience as a journey level electrician. Three years experience troubleshooting electrical systems. Journeyman electrical license from jurisdiction recognized by City of Austin. Associate's Degree in a related field. Graduation from technical or vocational trade school. Licensed as a Master Electrician. Experience in another maintenance trade. Environmental Demands:

Additional Working Conditions:

Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements. May be required to work in confined spaces, manholes, tunnels, elevated work, extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Considerable walking, standing, squatting, stooping, and moving of heavy materials and equipment in all weather conditions.
May be required to use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties.
May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts and cranes. Operate job related equipment.
Occasional work from ladders and/or scaffolds.
If driving University vehicles, must maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
Work Shift

• Shifts between 03:00 PM & 01:30 AM Monday-Friday.
• Some overtime, weekends and holidays possible.
