Under the general supervision of the Emergency Department (ED) Manager, Director of Emergency Services, Provider, and the Registered Nurse (RN), the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for the provision of care for the assigned ED patients. The EMT participates with the RN in planning, coordinating and implementing the plan of care to ensure quality, appropriateness, timeliness and effectiveness of services rendered.
Demonstrate competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the population of patients served; Order and stock supplies for the department.
Set up and assist in special procedures for the providers and nurses, including obtaining, preparing, and handling supplies, equipment and medicine necessary to perform the procedure (i.e. lidocaine, antibiotic cream, betadine, etc.)
Using a wheelchair, stretcher, hospital bed or other device, safely transport patients to inpatient units or to the department drop off/pick up area for discharge home.
Application of splinting devices and crutch fitting.
Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation hospital wide.
Assist with secretarial and cardiac monitoring duties as necessary.
Participate in ED process improvement projects, including but not limited to those related to Patient Experience. Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area
Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school.

Work Experience:
~ Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
EMT Florida State Certification and/or EMT/Paramedic National Registry Certification required
