Location: Corpus Christi, TX

Number of Beds: 8 inpatient beds + 8 admission unit beds (flexible up to 12 inpatient beds based on hospital census)
Staffing: 10 total staff members
Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 2 Registered Nurses (RNs), 1 Patient Care Assistant (PCA)
Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 2 Registered Nurses (RNs), 1 Patient Care Assistant (PCA)
Patient Ratios: Maximum of 6 patients per nurse
Equipment: Standard EMR system (Meditech)
Unit Description
This unit primarily cares for medical/surgical patients. Nurses will provide care for a range of conditions and will be involved in various standard nursing procedures.
Typical Hiring Profile
Required Skills
Must have acute medical/surgical experience of at least 1 year within the last year
Ability to care for 4-6 patients simultaneously
Preferred Skills
Acute medical/surgical experience of 2 years or more within the last year
Background in orthopedics or neurosurgery is preferred
Experience in Med/Surg/Telemetry is acceptable
Typical Procedures
Care for medical/surgical patients
Standard nursing skills including:
IV insertions
Urinary catheter insertion and maintenance
Central line maintenance
Medication administration
Communication with the care team
Documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
