Cleaning - Housekeeping - Janitors

Billings School District 2 is seeking a Custodian III to perform as a working supervisor of a custodial operation. Starts: October 2026. Schedule: 12-Month Position; Monday -- Friday; 2:00 p.m. -- 10:30 p.m., 8 Hours Per Day. Wage: $23.01 per hour. Benefits: Vacation/Sick Leave; PERS Retirement. Examples Of Duties: • Collects and disposes of garbage. • Sweeps and dust mops rooms. • Cleans, repairs, changes filters and other equipment under the supervision of head custodian. • Stripping and scrubbing of floors. • Finishing and refinishing all types of floors. • Grounds care and irrigation. • Dusting rooms and furniture, wet mopping. • Cleaning sinks. • Washing walls. • Cleaning lights. • Moving furniture, supplies, books, etc. • Cleaning woodwork, cleaning school grounds. • Replacing light tubes and bulbs. • Washing interior and exterior glass. • Pest control. • Painting floors, etc., as requested and within person's abilities. • Washing exterior of the building. • Housekeeping equipment care. • Shovel snow. • Buff floors. • Clean bathrooms daily. • Assists head custodians in boiler operation and other like duties as required. • Reports to head custodians any damage, malfunctions of equipment, and any other information needed by head custodian. • Acts as a substitute for head custodian. • Perform duties and related tasks in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the Billings Public Schools safety policies and in compliance with the Montana Safety Culture Act. • Performs other related duties as requested by head custodian and/or administrator. Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Must have a thorough knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment and supplies. • Must have some understanding of effective methods of supervision. • Able to establish and maintain effective supervisory and work relationships. • Able to communicate effectively. • Able to deal with public. • Minimum of one year of experience in custodial work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. • Pre-employment physicals are required for this position and paid for by the district.
