Performs venipunctures, capillary, POCT, EKG, PKU, DUI, Drug Screen and DNA collections for all age groups, at all Patient Care Service Centers and Diagnostic locations.

Positively identifies each patient prior to collection of specimens, using defined laboratory protocol. Accurately labels all specimens collected for testing. Performs LIS data entry and HIS data entry for all blood and body fluids. Obtains blood and body fluid specimens from hospital, outpatient drawing areas and emergency rooms, according to written policies. Utilizes all appropriate programs, systems, applications and assigned laboratory equipment.

Responds to customer and client inquires/questions for information regarding specimen requirements, testing schedules, hospital and departmental operations.

Handles a heavy workload, while working alone or extended hours, as necessary; FLEX. High School Diploma/GED and

• Proficient computer skills required. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of best practices and regulation of blood drawing techniques and collection.
• Course work or previous medical terminology experience.
• Must successfully complete appropriate training and achieve proficiency at the end of 90 days.
• Technical School Diploma Successful completion of an approved phlebotomy training course or 1-year previous work experience as a phlebotomist.

CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification - State of Pennsylvania or

PBT - Phlebotomy Laboratory Technician ASCP - State of Pennsylvania
