Description of Work The locksmith position is responsible for the total locksmith program including the maintenance of Murdoch Developmental Center’s master keying systems and the related lock system of the Butner Office Complex. Routine tasks performed by this position include the repair and installation of locks (door, cabinet, drawer, file, etc.), door maintenance as related to the proper closure of fire doors, maintains records of key issuances, maintains the integrity and security of the keying system by screening key requests. This position requires a thorough understanding of the mechanical principles of the locksmith trade. Some experience in carpentry work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment commonly used in the performance of carpentry work
Experience in commercial/industrial maintenance environment
2 years’ experience in carpentry work; Monday-Friday

Necessary Special Qualifications Pursuant to GS 74F, all employees in this job class must be licensed as a locksmith by the NC Locksmith Licensing Board.
