Mortgage Banking Originator

Behind every homeowner's \"we got the house!\" We're looking for a detail-obsessed, decision-driven professional to be the final checkpoint between our Loan Processors, borrowers, and closing — turning documented files into sound, approved loans.
If you love digging into the details, weighing risk with confidence, and being the person everyone trusts to get it right, this is your seat at the table
Analyze employment profile, credit worthiness, asset documentation and other pertinent information
Analyze property characteristics and all other information pertinent to credit and property decision
Assist in training new underwriters
Provide prompt and quality customer service both internally and externally by explaining credit decisions and offering alternative options when necessary
Maintains quality, and production standards
Exercise delegated underwriting authority (DE, SAR, VA/LAPP) to render final credit decisions within investor and agency guidelines
Identify and elevate potential fraud, misrepresentation, or compliance concerns in accordance with company policy
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in business, banking, or finance
2-5 years of recent underwriting experience in the mortgage industry.
Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with mortgage software, such as Calyx Point, Encompass, Data Track or Empower
Experience with an independent mortgage banker or non-depository lender, preferred
