Physician - Hematology and Oncology - Hematologist/Oncologist

Position eligible for the Veterans Health Administration Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet VA policy eligibility and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amounts are up to $200,000 with an eligibility period of one to five years, determined by VA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application.

Full and unrestricted medical license in any U.Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from a VA‑approved school for the year completed.

Completed residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification, or equivalent combination of post‑medical training and independent practice.

Board certification or eligibility for board certification if involved in academic training.

Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) considered; PRPs must be fully licensed physicians appointed on an intermittent basis, not independent practitioners, with scope limited under supervision.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

United States citizenship (non‑citizens only if no qualified citizens can be recruited, in accordance with VA policy).

Full and unrestricted medical license in any U.Completed residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification, OR one year of post‑medical school training followed by two years of independent practice, OR non‑U.S. residency training followed by at least three years of verified independent practice in the U.PRPs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" under specific conditions; PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and will perform limited duties under supervision.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Provide primary, secondary, and tertiary care for hospitalized and outpatient veterans in internal medicine and hematology‑oncology settings.

Identify health problems and design diagnostic and therapeutic plans.

Work in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and emergency settings.

Supervise students, residents, and fellows from Emory University and Morehouse Medical School, ensuring they meet academic appointment eligibility.

Collaborate with and supervise advanced practice nurses and physician assistants in patient care.

Maintain clinical trial investigator qualifications and enroll patients in cancer clinical trials.

Participate in quality improvement projects, clinical research, and educational activities.

Coordinate activities of other health‑service personnel and resolve patient‑care issues.

Teach house staff, medical students, and other health professionals during ward rounds, clinics, and conferences.

Provide supervisory control and professional direction for specialized diagnostic units in the field of expertise.

Cover evening oncology treatment clinics per schedule and rotate on weekends to cover consult service.

Work a varying schedule that includes rotating night shifts and weekend on‑call duties.
