Host - Restaurant evening/ weekend

Ida Claire - South of Ordinary is an intriguing, southern-inspired destination for relaxing suppers, slow weekend brunching or a meeting hub for business lunches and happy hour. Just like our homemade biscuits, the Ida Claire Family always rises to the occasion. Our menu is inspired by people who love to cook food, and cook food with love. It is notched up southern classics with some international influences. We’re seeking enthusiastic folks with experience in high-volume upscale restaurants, a genuine desire to grow in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for great southern inspired food. Host / Hostesses
Greet and seat all guests in a hospitable, friendly, and timely manner. Handle all incoming telephone calls before the third ring, using professional verbiage and a positive tone. Maintain a clean entrance area, hostess stand, and women's restroom. Manage reservations system, including seating within reservation times, quoting wait times, and not over or under-booking the restaurant. Escort guests to their assigned tables while engaging in conversation and providing a hospitable start to their dining experience.

Responsibilities

Interact with all guests and co‑workers professionally, hospitably, and friendly.

Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, ready to work.

Wear a proper uniform at all times, including dress, makeup, hair, and jewelry.

Accept and book reservations properly. When the desired time is unavailable, offer an alternative time or option to ensure the guest joins us.

Calculate, note, and quote accurate wait times. If the wait is extensive, offer the bar for cocktails and appetizers before heading to the table.

Keep floors, entry, and aisleways clean and free of debris.

Assist in bussing tables when we are on a wait or need a table immediately.

Provide guest right of way and assist guests needing directions around the restaurant.

Thank departing guests sincerely and welcome all guests arriving.

Be familiar with all restaurant information to answer any guest questions or address any concerns.

Answer all phone calls and fulfill any guest needs; place calls on hold or direct to proper department; communicate important information to managers on duty.

Know the hours of operation, menu items, price range, directions, contact info, and other basic restaurant details.

Provide information on daily menu additions, musical performances, and any cocktail or wine features for the evening.

Qualifications

Fun, energetic, and professional attitude at all times while working.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Prior restaurant experience is desired but not required.
