Seafood Buyer Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business, supply chain, or related field preferred
- 15 years of experience in purchasing, inventory, merchandising, or supply chain (food industry experience preferred)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills
Seafood Buyer Preferred Background & Skills
Experience with seafood buying or fresh food procurement
Familiarity with HACCP food safety standards and quality specifications
Background in vendor evaluation and negotiation
Understanding of market trends and supply chain dynamics
Seafood Buyer Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Place purchase orders based on sales forecasts and current inventory
Monitor inventory reports to prevent out-of-stocks and overstock
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing and contracts
Ensure all products meet food safety requirements and quality standards
Analyze sales, pricing, and vendor performance for category optimization
Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and sales teams to resolve product flow or quality concerns
Support promotional planning and the onboarding of new suppliers
