Buyer - Purchasing - Full Time

Research purchasing statutes to develop policies and procedures to coordinate County purchases. Establish standards and/or priorities for Purchasing Board approval and ensure standards are met.

Develop and administer a departmental budget to be approved by the Purchasing Board and Commissioners Court.

Contract administration and quality assurance of all County contracts. Communicate with department heads and employees to determine purchasing needs and assist in securing supplies. Meet with vendors to ensure an available supply of materials.

Supervise the annual inventory, sale, and redistribution of county property.

Coordinate the daily operation of the department. Supervise Purchasing Department staff. Maintain staff training to ensure currency in procedures. Sign for and be held financially accountable for equipment issues; recommend equipment expenditures.

Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by county managers.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

Knowledge of vendors, pricing sources, purchasing techniques, policies, procedures, and statutes regulating purchasing.
