The Medical Surgical unit consists of 40 beds divided into two sections.
The nurse-to-patient ratio during night shifts is 1:5-6.
Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic issues, and general surgery.
Experience with acute medical conditions and surgical care is essential.
Teamwork and effective communication are crucial for collaboration with patient care technicians.
Nurses will oversee and ensure patient care tasks, such as Foley care and bathing, are performed.
Charge nurses and administrative supervisors are present on each shift.
Charge nurses may take 1-2 patients.
Patient care technicians are available with varying ratios throughout the day and night shifts.
Registered nurses will monitor telemetry strips and utilize Phillips telemetry monitors.
Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, with weekend and holiday rotations required.
Floating to various units or locations may occur based on staffing needs.
Nurses are required to wear solid colored scrubs and adhere to the dress code.
Familiarity with the EPIC charting system is preferred.
