Tax Accountant/Analyst (Contract)

Milwaukee, WI (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Our Fund Administration team provides value-added services to a robust and rapidly growing client base, including mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity funds, offshore funds, and other investment companies.

In today's complex and dynamic legal and regulatory environment, clients demand service from tax professionals who understand the industry, investments, and client goals. Tax professionals are viewed as trusted advisors who help develop and implement innovative tax planning solutions, optimize tax strategies and positions, and identify and mitigate risk.

The Tax Analyst works as part of a team responsible for providing value-added services to investment companies and investment advisers. The tax team works with clients and independent auditors to prepare federal and state tax returns and monitor funds' income and capital gain distributions.

Prepare IRS Forms 1120-RIC, 8613, 1065, and Schedule K-1s, along with any required state and local tax forms.

Coordinate the distribution of necessary tax forms and supporting schedules to investors and partners.

Prepare mutual fund taxable income calculations, including book-to-tax differences for fiscal and excise tax purposes.

Calculate tax adjustments including wash sales, Section 1256 adjustments, Section 988 adjustments, PFIC adjustments, and other applicable tax adjustments.

Determine taxable income for hedge funds and investment partnerships.

Set up new partnerships and partners within tax return preparation software.

Calculate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual federal and state estimated tax payments, where applicable.

Calculate and prepare various federal and state withholding tax liabilities and related forms.

Prepare income and capital gain/loss estimates, including book-to-tax differences, as requested.

Bachelor's degree required.

Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Strong understanding of tax preparation, financial reporting, and tax compliance processes.

Experience preparing tax returns and supporting schedules preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related financial applications.

CPA certification or CPA candidate status.

Experience with partnership taxation, investment funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, or private equity funds.

Familiarity with tax reporting software and fund administration environments.
