Shop Welder - FULL TIME

PRS Facility Location:**

Responsible for the repair, inspection, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of engine blocks and other engine structures to ensure conformance with FRA, company, and customer specifications. **Education / Training:**

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Welding Certifications preferred.

• *Welder (Engine)
• *Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA);

• Following general safety rules, welds on engine blocks, engine pans, and other engine structures;
• Perform single and multi-pass welds in all positions (vertical, flat, and overhead) on engine blocks, parts, and structures;
• Properly utilize equipment and tools consistently, accurately, and safely:

o Welders, cutting torches, grinders, gouging equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, other tools;

• Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities;
• Maintain written and computer records as required;
• May roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates and other heavy parts using shop machinery;
• Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and tools;
• Assist in other repairs and maintenance as assigned by supervision;
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, utilize all PPE.

**2+ Years Welding experience (either on-the-job or technical training); Mechanical aptitude.

• Motion - Position requires the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, reaching, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and kneeling. Vision/Hearing Requirements - Position is exposed to UV and reflected radiation from a welding arc or torch. Emotional Demands - Employee is expected to work and cooperate as part of a team in order to meet production requirements;
• Safety - Position is safety sensitive as it requires working in and around live tracks and operation and repair of heavy equipment. Position requires strict adherence to safety policies (i.e. blue flag) and use of all required PPE.
