HR/Payroll Generalist - Compliance and Payroll

PNW Warehousing is seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources professional to support our growing team and day-to-day HR operations. This role serves as a trusted resource for employees and leadership, helping create a positive, compliant, and performance-driven workplace while supporting the fast-paced needs of a warehousing and logistics environment.
Responsibilities include recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, policy and compliance support, training, HR documentation, and maintaining accurate employee records. This position will work closely with leadership and frontline employees to strengthen communication, support employee development, address workplace concerns, and ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices.

The Human Resources professional will support the full employee lifecycle while partnering closely with leadership to maintain a positive, productive, and compliant workplace. Manage recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, background checks, and pre-employment processes.
Coordinate new-hire onboarding and orientation to ensure employees have a welcoming and organized introduction to the company.
Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS information, job descriptions, and other required HR documentation.
Serve as a resource for employees regarding company policies, benefits, payroll-related questions, workplace concerns, and general HR matters.
Support employee relations by addressing concerns, assisting with investigations, documenting issues, and recommending appropriate resolutions.
Partner with managers and supervisors on coaching, performance management, corrective actions, attendance concerns, and employee development.
Support payroll preparation by reviewing employee changes, timekeeping information, deductions, and other HR-related payroll data for accuracy.
Coordinate employee performance reviews, introductory/probationary reviews, compensation changes, promotions, and other employment status changes.
Maintain compliance with federal, Washington State, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintain and update employee policies, handbook materials, forms, and HR procedures as business or regulatory requirements change.
Coordinate required and developmental training for employees and leadership.
Track HR metrics and identify trends related to turnover, attendance, recruiting, retention, and other workforce needs.
Support employee engagement, recognition, company events, and initiatives that strengthen workplace culture.
Partner with operations leadership to understand staffing needs and provide practical HR solutions that support warehouse and customer requirements.
Assist with HR audits, compliance reporting, unemployment claims, employment verifications, and other administrative requirements.
Perform additional HR and administrative duties as needed to support the employees and continued growth of PNW Warehousing.
Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment policies, and federal and Washington State employment laws.
Strong employee relations skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally, objectively, and confidentially.
Ability to coach and support managers through performance management, corrective action, attendance, and employee development.
Strong recruiting and interviewing skills with the ability to identify candidates who align with both position requirements and company culture.
Proficient with HRIS, timekeeping, payroll, and applicant tracking systems; Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare professional HR documentation and employee communications.
Working knowledge of benefits administration, leave management, workers' compensation, and workplace safety practices.
Ability to interpret and consistently apply company policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and operations teams.
Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus.

Pay Scale: $30.00- $37.00 per hour depending on experience
80% covered Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance (80% covered for employee premiums)
~6 Paid Holidays

Work Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Monday - Friday and overtime as needed
