Position Summary
The Business Operations Manager serves as a key member of the School of Nursing and Health Professions ( SNHP ) team and supports the Dean in overseeing the school’s financial, operational, and administrative activities, as well as collaborates with program chairs, directors, and faculty as appropriate. This position is responsible for budget planning and monitoring, operational coordination, compliance reporting, staff supervision, and special projects that support the school’s academic mission and strategic goals. The Business Operations Manager reports to the Dean, School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Job Duty Name SNHP Budget and Operations
Description of Job Duties

Assist the Dean in developing and monitoring the school’s annual budget.

Track revenues and expenditures and prepare budget reports for school leadership.

Review financial data and provide recommendations to support school priorities and resource needs.

Work with faculty principal investigators and the Office of Research and Graduate Studies to support grant budgeting and reporting requirements.

Monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with funding requirements.

Process invoices, budget transfers, payroll authorization forms, and position requisitions.

Serve as the school’s liaison with Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, the Provost’s Office, and other university departments.

Assist with financial audits and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.

Prepare cost analyses and budget projections for new initiatives and programs.

Support efficient use of school resources and identify opportunities to improve administrative processes.

Job Duty Name Administration and School Operations
Description of Job Duties

Coordinate operational activities that support the school’s academic and administrative functions.

Maintain accreditation, Texas Board of Nursing, and other regulatory reports and records.

Assist with implementation and monitoring of the School’s Total Program Evaluation Plan.

Prepare reports, presentations, and supporting materials for the Dean and leadership team.

Manage special projects and initiatives assigned by the Dean.

Coordinate classroom and office space utilization and serve as a liaison with Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety.

Maintain records related to faculty credentials, licensure, certifications, continuing education, and compliance requirements.

Support planning and coordination of accreditation reviews, program visits, and other reporting activities.

Assist with coordination of school-wide events, including endowed lectures, faculty retreats, and recognition programs.

Job Duty Name Staff Supervision
Description of Job Duties

Supervise and support assigned staff within the school.

Coordinate office coverage and workflow to ensure efficient daily operations.

Provide training, orientation, and ongoing support to staff members.

Assign and monitor workloads to ensure assignments are completed accurately and on time.

Work closely with the Dean, program directors, and chairs to support scheduling and other operational needs.

Encourage collaboration, effective communication, and excellent customer service throughout the school.

Description of Job Duties

Support the Dean by coordinating calendars, travel arrangements, meeting logistics, and follow-up activities.

Prepare meeting agendas, reports, and briefing materials.

Take meeting minutes and track action items for Dean-led committees and meetings.

Serve as a point of contact for internal and external constituents on matters related to school operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and business operations management.

Experience developing and managing annual operating budgets.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and strong skills in Word, and Outlook.

Ability to prepare and present executive-level financial and operational reports.

Knowledge of higher education finance, budgeting practices, and administrative operations.

Ability to effectively support grants administration and maintain compliance oversight.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.

Ability to lead process improvement initiatives and drive operational efficiencies.

Ability to learn and monitor accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting processes in higher education.

Strong project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity.

Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.

Required Work Experience

Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in business operations, financial management, budgeting, or administration to include direct experience in financial reporting, budget development, and operational planning.

One (1) year of experience supervising staff or leading operational initiatives in a relevant environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Business or health related field.

Experience in higher education administration.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

Must have a valid driver’s license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW .

Valid identification with “Real Id” designation, as required for air travel.

Work Hours
Typical Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional extended hours/weekends to meet departmental needs (including travel) and/or needs of the learning community, with some weeknights and weekends.

Physical Demands

Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.

Ability to regularly move about campus, event venues, and recruitment sites to actively engage potential students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events to include reaching overhead, bending, squatting to retrieve office/marketing/events materials.

Ability to push/pull event carts holding up to 25 lbs.

Ability to navigate airports with recruiting materials.
