Shift Lead Lifeguard

Responsibilities

Must be able to fulfill all functions and duties of a Special Facility Lifeguard

Work lifeguard shifts as needed

Support aquatics and supervisory team members

Respond to calls from Aquatic team members

Perform zone walk through and ensure zones are maintained to park standards related to both aquatic safety and park cleanliness

Assist supervisors with conducting in-service trainings

Assist and conduct department trainings

Assist supervisors in performing Vigilance Awareness Testing (VAT), mid-season scanning and mid-season CPR testing.

Conduct slide walking and safety inspections

Communicate effectively with team members, other lead guards, supervisors, and leadership

Ability to properly and safely operate equipment used

Knowledge of standard of care in aquatic industry

Supervise guest experience to ensure excellent customer service is provided by the aquatic staff

Ensure Lifeguards follow park policies and procedures

Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other team members

Provide superior customer service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner

Assist customers with questions regarding Ocean Breeze Waterpark

Follow park policies and procedures

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age or older

Minimum one year lifeguarding experience

Experience working as a deep guard preferred

Record of punctuality and infrequent call outs

Ability to accept guidance and supervision

Demonstrate ability to work independently

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership

Be aware, attentive, and work well with others

Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection

Physical Requirements

Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without resting

Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface

Must be able to tread water without using arms for 2 minutes

Must have 20/25 corrected vision

Must have hearing and speech, manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, and eye/hand coordination

Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder

Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights

Ability to climb stairs

Must be able to respond to situations quickly, to include running to various locations around the park.

Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time
