Description:
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution.
The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
The RN completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs.
The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
The RN communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues.
The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
The RN provides direct care of CVMS patients (post op day one CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients).
The RN maintains a clean and tidy work environment.
The RN actively seeks out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
The RN maintains hospital and unit-based competencies.
The RN conducts hourly rounding on patients.
