Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing competent evaluation and treatment to in-patients and/or out-patients in compliance with hospital policy and procedures, JCAHO standards and AOTA Code of Ethics. The occupational therapist will have the ability to provide interventions to individuals who experience a loss of and/or deficiency in functional independence related to chronic, traumatic or developmental illness, impairment and/or disability. The therapist must also have the ability to problem solve and work effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians, ability to plan and organize and ability to work independently and in teams. Evaluations are completed within time frames set by departmental policy.

Evaluations meet JCAHO, Medicare and other regulatory agency requirements.

Demonstrates proficiency in evaluation of the patient with neurological pathology.

Demonstrates skills in fitting patients with appropriate equipment/orthotics/ADL devices appropriate to the patient's age.

Provides instructions in language appropriate for patient's age, avoiding medical jargon.

Includes other disciplines and team members as resources during the care planning process.
