MIKEL is committed to providing an environment that challenges its employees to use and advance their skills and knowledge to provide solutions that exceed customer expectations.Nature of RoleThe Systems Engineer will serve as an Active Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the AN/BQQ-10 Submarine SONAR System and the Active Engineering Team. This role focuses on the development, analysis, and verification of active sonar capabilities across Advanced Processing Builds (APBs). The candidate will play a critical role in requirements generation, system validation, and continuous capability enhancement to support mission effectiveness.ResponsibilitiesInclude but are not limited to:Provide systems engineering support as an Active SME for the AN/BQQ-10 Submarine SONAR SystemSupport the development and refinement of active sonar requirements, including feature development and specification updatesVerify and validate requirements captured within the Sonar System SpecificationDevelop and maintain updated active sonar requirements for transitioned APB capabilitiesReview, update, and approve Performance Verification Tests (PVTs) to ensure alignment with system requirements and assess as-run test resultsPerform modeling and analysis of new active sonar capabilities to derive and refine system requirementsSupport requirements review boards and bug review boards to ensure accurate prioritization and resolution of active system issuesCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support system integration and capability deliveryExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical disciplineExperience with systems engineering processes, including requirements development, verification, and validationFamiliarity with sonar systems, undersea warfare systems, or defense programs preferredExperience supporting Advanced Processing Builds (APBs) or similar iterative development cycles is a plusStrong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skillsAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWork Location: Newport, RIMIKEL offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), 401k Retirement Plan, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), and Tuition Reimbursement.Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance or higher is required at time of hire.
