Travel Oncology Registered Nurse - Nights

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology
Location: Springfield, IL
Agency: Prime Staffing
Pay: $3,189 per week
Shift: Nights - 4 days × 12 hours
Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Responsibilities & Duties

Administration of chemotherapy (IV push, continuous infusion, oral)

Monitoring and managing cytotoxic spills, side effects, and abnormal lab values

Care and management of ports, central lines, PICC lines, and other IV access sites

Body fluid handling post‑chemotherapy

Educating patients and families regarding treatment and support

Providing general inpatient oncology care and hospice support as needed

Assisting in the administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and blood products

Participating in interdisciplinary rounds with physical therapy, respiratory services, protocol support, and pharmacy

Quality assurance and charting in the Cerner system

Qualifications & Certifications

Active Illinois RN license in hand or in application process

Minimum 1 year of experience in oncology or related specialty

Competence in administering chemotherapy (Chemo CERT, ONS/ONCC or OCN preferred)

BLS certification required

Experience with ports, central lines, PICC lines, and IV therapy

Strong knowledge of chemotherapy safety and spill management

Experience in inpatient oncology, hospice, and general floor care

Knowledge of Cerner charting system

Additional Information

Work every other weekend and accept on‑call coverage as needed

Float to adjacent units or affiliate hospitals when required

On‑site facility: acute care hospital (Level I trauma, Magnet certified)

Daily census of approximately 24 oncology patients
