Lead Host/Hostess Restaurant - Full Time

Lead Host — Opening Team | Amphora | Flatiron District Amphora , a new fine-dining restaurant opening in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, is seeking an experienced and polished Lead Host to join our opening team.

As Amphora’s primary host, you will own the restaurant’s front-door experience and play an important role in managing reservations, guest recognition, seating, and the overall flow of the dining room.

We are looking for someone who is warm, poised, highly organized, and genuinely passionate about hospitality. This position requires confidence, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage the host stand independently while working closely with restaurant management and the service team.

Responsibilities

Own the guest arrival and departure experience

Manage reservations, seating, wait times, and table assignments

Coordinate closely with management to maintain proper pacing and dining-room flow

Maintain detailed and accurate guest profiles, preferences, VIP notes, and special occasions

Handle reservation calls, changes, cancellations, and special requests professionally

Recognize returning guests and help develop meaningful guest relationships

Anticipate seating and reservation challenges and communicate proactively with management

Communicate important guest information to the service and management teams

Maintain a polished, organized, and professional host stand

Represent Amphora with warmth, discretion, confidence, and professionalism throughout every interaction

Qualifications

• 2+ years of NYC upscale or fine-dining host experience preferred
• Experience with Resy or a comparable reservation platform
• Strong understanding of table management, turn times, and restaurant pacing
• Excellent communication and guest-relations skills
• Exceptional organization and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during service
• Calm, composed, and gracious under pressure
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Genuine interest in hospitality, food, wine, and creating memorable guest experiences
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
