Our Client is seeking Direct Support Shelter Advocates. Immediate Start!!! .
This position is part of a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week team of professionals providing shelter and support for homeless families. We are responsible for the provision of basic services to clients and for the safe day to day operation of the shelter. The overriding goals of the shelter is to move families out of shelter and this position supports that culture in all ways possible. Our client's current needs are for first shift (8am-4pm), second shift (4pm-12pm), and third shift (12pm-8am)
Initiate and maintain appropriate social Interactions with residents and assist residents as needed

• Conduct rounds of shelter to maintain safety and security of residents
• Assist with preparation, serving and cleanup of meals during the shift
• Intervene if a resident in crisis (medical, mental health, interpersonal)
• Complete assigned tasks of shift
• Monitor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dayrooms to maintain the safety and security of residents and the premises
• May be involved in rooms clean ups and packing rooms

Previous work with homeless individuals and/or families, disabilities or other at-risk populations

• Ability to work alone and handle crises with good judgment, adequate communication skills - both written and oral
• Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs up to three or more sets, frequently move equipment weighing up to 5-20 lbs., Sitting, standing, reaching above, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, traversing, thinking, speaking, writing, concentrating, interaction with others.
