\n Summary:
\n Performs diagnostic echocardiograms on adults and pediatric patients.
\n Responsibilities:
\n \n
Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. \n
Performs technically proficient 2D, M-mode and Doppler cardiac exams. \n
Coordinates activities with interrelated hospital departments, including scheduling exams, transporting patients, answering the phone and assuring billing information is accurately entered for payment. \n
Assists cardiologist while dictating exams by preparing and measuring M-modes and by exchanging any other pertinent information contributing to the diagnosis. \n
Acts as go-between to deliver, pick up and distribute dictations in a timely manner. \n
Responds to patients’ needs during exam. Reports changes in patient condition to physician or nurse in charge. \n
Orders Echo supplies. Keeps rooms clean and neat and supplied as needed. \n
Logs patients and exams and files patient records in the department. \n
Participates in Performance Improvement activities at the departmental, interdepartmental and hospital-wide levels. \n
Shares responsibility for on-call coverage for echo emergency exams done apart from regular working hours as established by department policy. \n
Maintains quality control of the equipment operation and quality of examinations performed. Coordinates repair services as needed. \n
Keeps current on events/advances in the field of Echocardiography. Seeks advice and mentors with cardiologists regarding new skills and knowledge in the field. \n
Assists with other cardiac procedures as needed. \n
\n Requirements:

• n Education/Skills
• n \n

High school diploma or equivalent. Two year allied health education program that is patient care related. Allied health occupations include but are not limited to: diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and/or registered nurse preferred. \n
Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrates strong organizational skills \n
Ability to work collaboratively with others from a variety of disciplines \n
Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions \n
Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms. \n

~ Two years of actively doing echocardiograms preferred. \n

• n Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
• n \n

~ A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered required or registered within 18 months of hire. State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License. BLS certification issued through American Heart Association within six months of hire. \n

\n In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
