LPN - Mental Health Walk-in Clinic

For over 50 years, Metrocare has provided a broad array of services to people with mental health challenges and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health care, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, services for veterans and their families, accessible pharmacies, housing, and supportive social services. Alongside clinical care, researchers and teachers from Metrocare's Altshuler Center for Education & Research are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County while providing critical workforce to the state.

Professional care-giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of consumers for a designated time frame and provides care to those consumers via the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environment, treatment and modalities and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Metrocare clinics are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. except for the Hillside Adult Clinic, which is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. Intervene as guided to implement nursing actions that promote, maintain or restore physical and mental health, prevent illness and effect rehabilitation.
Document all meetings and notes pertaining to consumer plans
Perform nursing assessments
Provide physician extender services
Provide patient and family training regarding health and support topics
Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the ethical standards of conduct, state contract, appropriate professional standards and applicable state/federal laws
Able to apply working knowledge of MS Office 95/97
Record data neatly, coherently, accurately, and objectively.
Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies and procedures related to the Agency and all stakeholders
Creative service implementation processes designed to meet the needs of people served.
Emergency/Crisis Intervention skills
Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the ethical standards of conduct, state contract, appropriate professional standards and applicable state/federal laws
Ability to handle multiple task and special projects simultaneously.
Able to work autonomously with minimal or no supervision.
Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing
One year of experience, preferably with consumers with developmental disabilities

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Current Licensed LVN in the state of Texas

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. Due to the multi-site responsibilities of this position the incumbent must be able to carry equipment and supplies (up to 15 pounds). The position requires standing and/or walking in excess of 7 hours a day.

TRAVEL:

In county travel may be required.
No Overnight travel required

Positions that are community-based, in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various worksites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is further required to meet the criteria for insurability by the Centers risk management facilitator; and produce proof of minimal auto liability coverage when applicable. Failure to meet these terms may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, contract or other status with Metrocare.
