Mercato connects healthcare organizations and local grocers to make healthy, culturally relevant food accessible for all. Since 2015, we’ve empowered thousands of independent stores with the technology to deliver nutritious groceries and meals—seamlessly, affordably, and with dignity. Built by grocers, Mercato keeps food dollars in local communities while supporting programs that accept SNAP/EBT and Medicaid benefits.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Community Liaison to lead local outreach and engagement with Healthcare Partners. In this role, you’ll connect residents, healthcare partners, and community organizations to Mercato’s healthy food access programs. You’ll serve as a trusted local advocate, helping New Yorkers navigate nutrition benefits and build lasting connections that support healthier lives.

What You’ll Do

Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and local CBOs

Plan and attend community events, workshops, and outreach activities to promote Mercato’s programs.

Educate residents about eligibility and enrollment for nutrition benefit programs.

Coordinate with internal teams to align outreach with statewide health initiatives.

Track engagement metrics, partnerships, and program outcomes.

Represent Mercato in the community with professionalism, empathy, and enthusiasm.

What We’re Looking For

Experience: 1–2 years in community outreach, healthcare navigation, or public service.

Knowledge: Familiarity with NYC neighborhoods and community networks is highly preferred.

Skills: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.

Traits: Culturally competent, adaptable, and mission-driven.

Tech: Comfortable with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; CRM tools a plus.

Education: Bachelor’s in public health, social work, or a related field—or equivalent experience preferred.

Availability: Flexibility to work some evenings or weekends for community events.

Travel

Local travel across NYC (up to 80%).

Compensation

$65,000–$72,000 base salary, plus a quarterly performance bonus of up to $2,500 ($10,000 annually) tied to referral goal attainment. Target total compensation $75,000–$82,000. Placement within the range depends on experience in community outreach or care coordination and familiarity with New York's Medicaid and social care landscape.
