Associate Veterinarian Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans

Diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions using evidence-based veterinary medicine

Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures within your level of expertise

Provide urgent and emergency care, including patient stabilization and referral when appropriate

Prescribe medications and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging results

Communicate medical recommendations, treatment options, and follow-up care clearly and compassionately with clients

Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records using SOAP documentation

Collaborate with the Medical Director on medical protocols and patient care decisions

Mentor and support veterinary technicians and assistants while fostering a collaborative team environment

Promote exceptional client service and build long-term relationships through education, empathy, and follow-up care

Assist in maintaining efficient hospital workflow while upholding the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism

Associate Veterinarian Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
• 2+ years of experience in a private or corporate practice
• Active California veterinary license in good standing or ability to obtain licensure before employment
• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain one
• Strong diagnostic, surgical, and medical case management skills
• Commitment to practicing high-quality medicine with compassion and integrity
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients and team members
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and time management skills
• Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support technical staff
• Commitment to maintaining accurate medical records and complying with all applicable regulations and hospital policies
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment while delivering exceptional patient and client care
