This position focuses on learning how to examine and process individual tax returns and related information. It supports accurate review of payments, credits, and correspondence to ensure proper handling of taxpayer accounts. As a Tax Examiner 1, you will perform the following duties:
Review Tax Documents: Examine individual tax returns and schedules for accuracy and ensure all amounts are carried to the correct lines
Process Credits: Apply and adjust tax payments and credits based on information received and noted discrepancies
Handle Correspondence: Review responses to individual tax notices and make corrections when needed
Conduct Research: Use internal and external resources to support decisions and resolve account questions
Resolve Payment Issues: Search for misapplied payments in the system and relocate them appropriately

Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days a week after successful completion of the in-office training period of 6 months. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of general office work; An equivalent combination of experience and training.
