Project Architect - Architecture & Design

Brahms Design is an architectural design firm. Together we design, develop, construct, and manage independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities for seniors throughout the Midwest. The Project Architect, reporting directly to the Director of Architecture, is responsible for leading the development of accurate, coordinated construction documents. This role collaborates with consultants, contractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure clarity, quality, and alignment with project goals while also mentoring junior design staff and supporting overall architectural excellence.

Lead the creation of construction drawings and specifications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency across projects.

Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and client representatives to align scope, schedule and deliverables.

Partner with the Director of Architecture to track schedules, progress, and resolve technical challenges.

Collaborate with the development team to identify and integrate design opportunities that meet project objectives.

Review consultant documents, shop drawings, and submittals for compliance with project requirements.

Assist in quality assurance and quality control reviews to maintain consistency, accuracy, and firm standards across deliverables.

Conduct site visits to observe construction progress and prepare field reports.

Bachelor or Master’s degree in architecture required by hire date. Licensed Architect or actively working toward licensure.

Strong technical knowledge of building systems, codes, and detailing.

Experience producing full sets of construction documents.

Proficiency in Revit for production and coordination, and Enscape for Visualization.

Ability to coordinate across disciplines and communicate clearly with consultants and contractors with a strong commitment to serving in‑house team members.

Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing repeat project workflows.

This position may need to walk or stand for extended periods while visiting project sites.

This position may need to move through areas of the office or other worksites of the organization.

Individuals in this position are required to stay current on all training and ongoing education initiatives. While travel for this role is not anticipated, there may be situations that arise that require this role to travel to an offsite company location. Anticipated potential travel does not exceed 10% of the annual work of this position.
