The Mobile Dental Assistant will provide chairside assistance, prepare and maintain the mobile clinical environment, assist patients with registration and scheduling, and help coordinate the daily operations of the mobile unit.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide chairside assistance to dentists and dental hygienists during general dental proceduresPrepare treatment areas, instruments, equipment, and materials before patient appointmentsSterilize instruments and maintain infection-control standards within the mobile dental unitAssist with setting up and closing down the mobile unit at community locations and outreach eventsSafely drive and transport the mobile dental unit or other TFHC vehicles as assignedComplete required vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concernsSupport patient registration, check-in, check-out, and appointment schedulingVerify and update patient demographic, insurance, and contact informationAnswer patient questions and provide clear instructions regarding appointments and follow-up careSubmit preauthorizations and maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentationAssist with dental referrals, treatment coordination, and patient follow-upCoordinate dental laboratory case pickups, deliveries, and documentationMonitor clinical and administrative supplies and assist with inventory managementMaintain an organized, professional, and welcoming mobile clinic environmentEnter and review information within the electronic medical recordTravel throughout Hillsborough County based on the mobile unit scheduleRepresent TFHC professionally during community events and outreach activitiesPerform additional clinical, administrative, and front-desk duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredGraduate of an accredited Dental Assistant programCurrent Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification requiredCurrent Dental Radiology certification requiredCurrent CPR certification requiredMust be at least 21 years of ageValid Florida driver's license requiredClean and insurable driving record requiredAbility and willingness to drive TFHC vehicles as assigned (mobile dental unit bus)Previous dental front-office or administrative experience is preferredProficiency with the EPIC electronic medical record system is a plusSkills and AbilitiesStrong chairside dental assisting skillsStrong communication and interpersonal abilitiesComfort performing both clinical and administrative responsibilitiesExcellent organization and attention to detailAbility to manage patient registration, scheduling, and documentation accuratelyAbility to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirementsAbility to follow clinical, safety, and infection-control proceduresDependable driving habits and commitment to vehicle safetyAbility to work independently while remaining connected to the larger dental teamFlexibility to adapt to changing mobile unit schedules and community locationsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentCommitment to professionalism, patient service, and culturally responsive careWork EnvironmentPrimarily based within a mobile dental unit and community outreach environment, or at an onsite health centerRegular travel throughout Tampa and Hillsborough CountyCombination of clinical dental assisting and administrative front-desk dutiesMay require working at community events, schools, partner locations, or TFHC health centersRequires the ability to enter and exit the mobile unit regularly and assist with equipment and supply setupFast-paced, patient-focused environment with varying daily locationsBenefits and RewardsTFHC offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceLife, disability, and AD&D insuranceGenerous paid time offSeven paid company holidays401(k) with employer contribution after one yearEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee discount programProfessional growth and development opportunitiesPet insuranceWhy Join TFHC?This is an opportunity to combine your dental assisting experience, administrative skills, and interest in community outreach. All new hires, including part-time employees, must be available for up to 40 hours of in-person, on-site training during their first week. Training may take place at a TFHC location other than the employees assigned work location.
