Must-Have: Overall general medical/surgical experience.
Description:

• The unit consists of 13 beds.
• The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5.
• Common diagnoses include strokes, traumas, cardiac cases, and general medicine like UTIs, COPD, and cellulitis.
• Experience in general medical/surgical skills is essential as the unit operates in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover.
• Nurses are not required to titrate drips.
• Charge Nurses are present 24/7 and do take patient assignments.
• A House Supervisor is available around the clock.
• The unit employs Patient Care Technicians, with 2 on days and 1 on nights.
• Job duties include patient care, vitals monitoring, hourly rounding, and performing accu checks.
• Respiratory equipment such as Bi-Pap and C-Pap is used only for PRN orders or at night.
• High flow is also utilized.
• Telemetry monitoring is done hospital-wide using Phillips Monitoring.
• Nurses are not required to read EKG strips.
• The scheduling includes day shifts from 07:00 to 19:30 and night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30.
• A weekend requirement of 6 shifts in a 6-week schedule is expected.
• Holiday duty is required every other holiday for all staff.
• There is no on-call requirement.
• Travelers may float to other departments if needed.
• The dress code allows for flexibility, but specific scrub colors are not mandated.
• Scrubs are not provided, and pediatric scrub tops should be avoided.
