NYPD medical districts available in Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island.

Hours and Shift: Varies between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Saturday/Sunday regular days off; Conduct fitness for duty evaluations of police personnel (uniformed and civilian), case management, trauma debriefings, military debriefings, crisis intervention, and screening for undercover assignments (training and supervision provided).

Provide supportive services and psychoeducation for individuals at designated NYPD precincts and specialty units.

Attend and participate in psychological and general staff conferences and training.

Consult with senior or executive staff on organizational issues, including work group dynamics, morale, policy implementation, and other matters.

Research, develop, and implement training on mental health, organizational, and wellness‑related matters.

Develop appropriate material for mental health presentations.

Completion of two years of graduate work, consisting of at least 60 graduate semester credits in psychology, in an accredited graduate program leading to a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology, or neuro‑psychology, plus two years of satisfactory full‑time experience after admission to the program, in one of these areas under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist in a hospital, penal institution, social services agency, clinic, court, school or other agency or institution; A doctorate in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology, or neuro‑psychology from an accredited college or university; Completion of a re‑specialization in clinical psychology from an accredited graduate program plus one year of satisfactory full‑time experience as described above.

All candidates must have completed the equivalent of three semester credits from an accredited graduate school in personality testing, individual intelligence testing, psychopathology or abnormal psychology, and psychological and/or behavioral intervention, and must have 240 hours of experience under the supervision of a licensed psychologist in each of the following: personality testing, individual intelligence testing, and psychological and/or behavioral intervention. Experience in psychological and/or behavioral intervention may be under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist.

Valid license as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education; In addition to Level I requirements, must hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology, or neuro‑psychology, and have one additional year of satisfactory full‑time experience as a psychologist for the City of New York or in a supervisory capacity in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology, or neuro‑psychology in an approved agency or institution. In addition to Level I requirements, must hold a doctoral degree described under Level II, valid license as a Psychologist, and four years of satisfactory full‑time experience in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology, or neuro‑psychology, with at least one year under direct supervision of a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist, and at least three years in a supervisory capacity as a licensed Psychologist. Strong writing ability, experience with quantitative measures for results, and prior experience working in law enforcement (not required).

This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55‑a Program. licensed psychologists receive an additional $4,855 differential annually.
