Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER 2 Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer 2 supports the development and improvement of core products by researching, documenting, analyzing, designing, and testing mechanical components, processes, and systems. This role translates engineering requirements into practical design solutions for individual components or defined portions of more complex systems, ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule objectives are achieved. They apply established mechanical engineering principles within an assigned technical domain and collaborate with customers and suppliers as needed to support project execution.

Responsibilities Applies the engineering design process to develop detailed product specifications by analyzing performance and customer requirements. Investigates design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchangeability, recurring cost, operational efficiency, and contractual requirements.

recommends solutions which are defined and reviewed for implementation. Applies problem solving techniques to investigate and troubleshoot product performance deficiencies.

Performs Validation and Verification procedures to achieve customer and product specifications. Provides technical information for review with product engineering teams using established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods (e.g. structured design process; customer design reviews). may assist in writing technical proposals for customers.

Contributes to the completion milestones associated with specific projects (e.g. create functional diagrams and system layouts; define data structure, interfaces and programming logic; analyze material requirements; research customer data item requirements).

Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions, engineering change orders, and improvements to engineering management or the project team.

May represent the company on specific projects or engineering tasks.

Qualifications Has working knowledge of engineering domain principles and techniques, engineering drawings, product functionality, industry practices, regulations, and policies. General knowledge of other related engineering and technical areas.

Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools; ability to use standard software packages. May require using specialized software applications or languages.

Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.

Ability to organize and present data to other teams.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or adjacent science technical discipline.
