Full Time Counsel

The Basics:Tanium is seeking a highly motivated, proactive attorney to join our legal team as product counsel. This position follows the Company’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: What you’ll do:Provide practical legal advice and counseling on a full range of product-related issues that arise domestically and internationallyPartner closely with Product Management, Engineering and Strategy teams through the entire product lifecycle to identify issues, recommend practical solutions, and assist cross-functional efforts to achieve go-to-market goalsServe as a legal advisor on AI matters, including advising on AI policies, liability, licensing, responsible AI development, deployment, and risk assessmentsDevelop and enhance processes designed to ensure ongoing product compliance with global laws and regulations, including global privacy laws, data security, export control and trade complianceNegotiate inbound and outbound license agreementsParticipate in the company's open-source review processAdvise on privacy by design, privacy impact assessments, and data handling and minimization principles throughout the software development lifecycleReview product collateral and marketing materialsServe as a subject matter expert on our products for the Contracts and Legal teams and assist with contract negotiationsSupport the company's incident response program and respond to security eventsContribute to the company’s IP strategy and product roadmap, including management of patent and trademark portfolios and IP enforcement activities in coordination with product teams and outside counselWe’re looking for someone with:JD from an accredited institution Active and in good standing in at least one state bar At least 5 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm, government agency, and/or in-house, with substantive exposure to the software, SaaS, or related technology industry Familiarity with emerging AI legal considerations, governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act) and regulations, with the ability to translate requirements into actionable guidance for product and engineering teamsWorking knowledge of global privacy laws and their impact on software product developmentExceptionally good communication skills Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a tightly-knit legal team Ability to work cross-functionally within an organization to build consensus and achieve strategic goals as well as the ability to enforce legal requirements without alienating clients About TaniumTanium is the Autonomous IT company. What you’ll getThe annual base salary range for this full-time position is $191,000 to $293,000.
